Goodbyes

Yesterday was my last Sunday at St. Luke, the church I've been working at for 3.5 years.
I've still got youth events (and staff meeting) this week, but I'm also moving into my new office and next Sunday is my first at the new church: First UMC Bedford.
I've been living in denial about saying goodbye to St. Luke Youth, not thinking about it until I have to. I'm sure it'll hit me afterwards, much like culture shock affects me--way later. I'll just one day wake up and suddenly be extremely homesick for St. Luke.
I don't think that's an unhealthy way to process--maybe just a little weird. Part of it comes from my wanting to be strong for the youth. If I cry, they'll all cry, and I DON'T like to be the one who makes people cry. I like to be the one who fixes things up, even though I can't always be, and I shouldn't always be. So I've been trying to go through this transition as positive as possible--with loads of assurance for the youth that it's not goodbye forever, and we can still be friends (facebook!), and while there have been some tears, I can only hope that they've been processing this well. But as the reality of me being gone sinks in, things might change. I hope it goes well.

They gave us a nice little reception after Ekklesia yesterday.
Ricardo was already on a flight to Minnesota (business trip--I'm a single mom for 5 days??
I wish we could have gone with him!!)
Xaris and I got lots of hugs goodbye. And Xaris looked really cute in Spenser's purse too. :)

Today we're cleaning house and doing laundry and relaxing after last week's craziness. Xaris is sleep-kicking in bed next to me, and I'm seriously contemplating going back to sleep for a little more!

iphone photo update...

Not the best quality photos--but cute all the same.

First time in the baby bjorn with daddy--we went on a field trip to Central Market. We have so much fun in that store, but only go maybe 2 or 3 times a year!

Saturdays are the best because of all the cooking demonstrations and samples!

Tummy time!
