Sooooo Sick.

We are under the weather. What would be below under the weather? Under-under? Whatever it is, that is what we are. It has been traumatic.
X had a fever last Monday night (that's right, a week ago), with no other symptoms, but I brought her into the Dr. anyway. Good thing I did, because he checked her all out, ears, lungs, nose, everything all clear, but then he looked at her throat and said "Well, that looks pretty bad". Did a strep test, came back positive, so round 1 of antibiotics. 2 days later, she's worse (yanking her ears, all sniffly, coughy, and nose-drippy) and I've started feeling bad too, despite my constant netty-potting, salt-water gargling, hand-washing, sanitizing-everything state of being for the past 72 hours. I call the Dr. again, and he switches her antibiotic.

Then we go see MY Dr. She doesn't think I have strep, but prescribed an antibiotic for "just in case" I got worse over the weekend. Good thing. Friday I woke up much worse. I called her, she told me to fill the prescription, so I started antibiotics on Friday, and proceeded to get worse daily over the weekend until now. Tomorrow is my last antibiotic, glad it's helping?

Today: X seems to be feeling a little better, at least she has no fever, more energy and wants to play, but she's still got this scary rattly chesty cough, and insane amounts of nose runnies.

Today: I am still worse, can't breathe through my nose half the time, and wake up coughing so hard Ricardo has had to move to the other room. :(

Today: I called both Xaris' Dr, and mine, to mention that we are still not better and are at the end of the course of antibiotics. X's Dr. wants her to do another course, so today we started antibiotic #3. My Dr. wants to see me at 7:45 in the morning. yippee.

Today: Ricardo came home sick from work (which he NEVER does) and went into get checked out: no strep fortunately, but a nasty sinus infection, so antibiotics for him too.

Total, for our family of 3: FIVE different antibiotic prescriptions (plus 7 other meds) in less than a week. I can't remember the last time I was this sick, and that it lasted THIS long.
Sorry for the griping, but I want the sympathy (and maybe advice if there's any out there). Mostly, I just want health!!

Watching Toy Story 3 in bed. Again. I don't mind because she'll actually sit and watch a good chunk of it, which means I can lay down, and maybe even close my eyes for a few....

An experiment

Trying to see if I can post an update for a different date--like in the past. Can I catch up, and still keep things in chronological order?

pathetic snow day

Last Sunday we got snow. A sprinkling. I was really hoping for more--at least one good cold snow day would be lovely. We got barely enough to notice, as you can see.

There was just enough on the car to scrape together a "snowbaby" for Xaris.

She carried it all around, including into the neighbors yard, singing to it

And rocking it.

And then...sad news:

She also learned about throwing snowballs...

And got to try a taste...

video catchup

I'm not great at downloading videos. In fact, our video camera is full, because I don't know the right way to download them to my laptop, so I've been using my phone for all recent videos. I really need to get better at some of the technology I own.

Here are a couple from recent weeks :)

X was playing "dress up". She walked out carrying one of my shirts and wanted me to put it on her (Mariners--nice choice baby girl!) Next thing I know she's walking around the house in my shoes. She went so far as to mimic my actions, because as I recorded her I squatted down to her level...and she did it too :)

I was trying to record X dancing with papa. She likes to stand on the kitchen counter and play in the cupboards with him while he plays music on his phone--they usually end up dancing. She had pretty much stopped, you can hear me encouraging more dancing...the funny part is her "death stare" she gives the camera at the end...

She is our delight! Such a funny little nut.

Tummy time?

Remember this?

Xaris' favorite position...she repeatedly does this--last night she spent more than 20 minutes lounged over a ball inside her saucepan from her toy kitchen. Still not sure why she enjoys it so much, but we're pretty entertained by it too.

Well...a few days ago we were getting her ready for her bath, and she was partially undressed (down to t-shirt and diaper). I was getting the bath ready and she was running around, and I came out into the family room, lo and behold she had taken off her diaper (she's known how to do this for a long time), and she was balanced over her basketball with her naked little bum in the air. OF COURSE I have a picture that will live on to be her future embarrassment, but as my blog is not private, (I'm considering it--pro's & con's from those of you with experience?) that picture will not be posted here.

Just thought I'd share the story, can't stop laughing right now as I remember it and write about it.

ICE

December 30th was our 5th wedding anniversary.
We celebrated by going up to Grapevine, TX to the Gaylord Hotel, home of the ICE! exhibit. We went to the exhibit last year with my parents and enjoyed it, so this year we decided to stay the night in the hotel and see/do more. It's a huge and beautiful resort--next time we are bringing swimsuits because they have an indoor pool and hot tub.

One of the youth at my church works there, and when we saw her that evening, she took us in for a free picture with Snoopy. I think it's on Ric's phone though, so I'll have to post that later. The best part about staying in the hotel, is that hotel guests get into the ice exhibit 1 hour before it opens, which meant NO LINE. We walked right in!

They give you these huge jackets, because they keep the room at -9 degrees or something to prevent the ice from melting. They have toddler jackets--but it went right to the floor on X!

We had a wonderful anniversary--looking forward to the next 5, and 50 with my loves!

Houston

Every now and again we get down to Houston to see my parents. Gramama (X manages to say mamama) and Tayta (she often calls them both Tayta).

These are old pictures, from when we were down in November, but I'm still trying to play catch up. I don't even think I finished blogging last summer's trip to Seattle! It could happen still...maybe.

We get lots of snuggles, and X shows Gramama how much she can do on an iPhone.

She also walked to the park with papa, since in Houston in November it's like a summer morning in the PacNW--50's-60's ish, until the sun comes and warms it up.

Driving is a favorite. Don't know when we'll get to do the eyes on the road, hands at 10 and 2 lesson...

Puddles are also very good things

So are tree stumps for climbing on.

especially when it's an all-by-myself kind of tree stump
